I have so much respect for this man, a real man of honour. He went through a most traumatic experience with his first wife Gloria Appiah. They got divorced after a DNA test proved the three children raised during the marriage were not his biological children. She then had the premium audacity to engage in a prolonged legal battle over property and assets. That kind of pain inflicted you just move on and leave the person alone…
The Accra High Court granted the divorce, ruled that the children were not his, and ordered Gloria to vacate the seven-bedroom East Legon house. Instead of the mansion, she was awarded a four-bedroom house at Dome, two vehicles, and a cash settlement of GHS 200,000 (plus later adjustments).
Between 2019–2021 Gloria appealed to claim the East Legon property as part of her alimony settlement, but the Court of Appeal and subsequent appeals dismissed her challenges, upholding that she had no right to the mansion.
In April 2022, the courts finalized the repossession in favor of the former footballer, officially returning the East Legon mansion he bought for roughly $100,000 during his playing career back to him.
Odartey Lamptey chose the path of honour, remarried and now has 3 kids of his own. God is faithful. He got beauty for ashes!!! What he went through sends most men to an early grâve! He overcame! Victorious Odartey Lamptey! A great example of second chances.
