NPP flagbearer race: Ken Agyapong concedes defeat

The main contender to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer election, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has conceded defeat.

Speaking at his campaign headquarters, Mr Agyapong threw in the towel after it has become clear that Dr Bawumia’s lead cannot be surmounted.

” Don’t worry, God will take care of you. He knew this date will come. We experienced this in 2023. Stay calm,” he said.

Earlier, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia expressed gratitude to all who supported his campaign.

Dr Bawumia said this after his campaign Manager, Opare-Ansah had presented collated results for 85% of the polling centres to him at his campaign headquarters.

Mr Opare-Ansah had said that, “your excellency, from what i have presented so far, it can only get better and you are cruising to a comfortable lead.”

This was greeted with loud cheers and singing of the party songs and chanting of “It is Bawumia, No Change.”

Addressing the gathering, Dr Bawumia said, “it is an honour to stand on the shoulders of former flagbearers like Prof Adu Boahene, JA Kuffuor and Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo. I thank you all for making this happen.”

Meanwhile, his main contender, Kennedy Agyapong has conceded defeat.
