John Mikel Obi destroys Jordan Ayew after Ghana's World Cup exit || Macqathylive Sports

Former Nigeria international Mikel John Obi has expressed his disappointment in the skipper of the Black Stars of Ghana following their poor performance compared to their group stage encounters. Their round of 32 clash against Columbia, has received levels of backlash considering the fact that there were no shot on goal recoded by Ghana. The teams line up was unusual as previous starters were benched for no reason making Ghana to have no shot on goal leaving the Columbians side with no threat, a side which did very little to win.

"I've seen bad performances. I've seen anonymous performances. But Jordan Ayew against Colombia was something else.

A senior forward in a World Cup knockout match finishes with zero passes into the penalty area and zero shots. That's not just poor, that's hiding.

Ghana didn't lose with eleven players. They lost with ten because their most experienced attacker never turned up. Colombia's centre-backs had the easiest night of the tournament. They didn't have to stop him because he never gave them anything to stop.

You don't earn respect by surviving on your name. You earn it by demanding the ball, hurting the opposition and dragging your country forward. Ayew did none of that. If you're invisible for 90 minutes on the biggest stage in football, you've failed your nation. It's as simple as that."
