Glory be to God for Sesko — that winning goal against Fulham mattered a lot

 

Now that emotions have settled, it’s time for an honest conversation about the biggest issue in this team right now: our defence.

There’s so much to be happy about. Our attack is clicking, we’re creating chances for fun, and we’re scoring more goals than we did last season. Going forward, we look exciting and dangerous every game.

But defensively, we’re still not where we should be. We’re conceding almost as many goals as we score, and that’s a serious problem if we truly want to compete at the very top.

Just look at the Fulham game. We were comfortable with a two-goal lead, fully in control, then suddenly conceded two goals within six minutes. That shouldn’t happen to a team with our ambitions.

Once again, Sesko had to bail us out, and Senne Lammens made some huge saves to prevent things from getting worse. Those moments of chaos can’t keep repeating themselves.

This isn’t about writing off the defence. It’s about raising standards. Better concentration, better organisation, and more control when we’re ahead are non-negotiable.

Fix that, and we won’t just be entertaining — we’ll be consistent, ruthless, and genuine title contenders next season.
