Ghana Black Stars former defender who cupped 89 times for his homeland Ghana, John Painstil seems to be unhappy over recent happenings over the death of the respectful Christian Astu. Christian was sidelined from the Black Stars at a point when Astu was on his top peak. This he said mounted pressure on the career of the late player and made him go through tough times looking for a permanent club to settle as player.
Speaking on Accra based radio station Original FM, the former defender shared his disappointment in the Ghana Football Association (GFA) that they ignored the late player when it mattered most. That was why Astu kept moving from club o club looking for a stay, which landed him to Turkey. According to Painstil he believes if he should have been with the Black Stars, better offer would have come to Astu than what he got at Turkey, because he's good on the pitch.
He said "You snubbed him and kicked him out of your Black Stars at age 31. Atsu has been struggling to get a permanent stay in a club since the snub. We all know the Value & Respect your club gives you when you play for your Nation. Don't pretend you loved him because you don’t at all." He stated.
Meanwhile thousands of people are visiting the late footballers house as preparation begins with the family and the Ghana Football Association to set a date for the final funeral rights on the young legend's funeral who died in Turkey through a 6.2 magnitude earthquake.
